Yury Korzun demands Lukashenka's resignation.
One of the famous participants of the protests and strike of the miners in Salihorsk, Yury Korzun, started a one-man protest in the mine. He informed the management that he is going down and refuses to go up to the surface, Charter97.org reports with reference to the Belaruskali strike committee.
He writes in his address to Belaruskali CEO Ivan Halavaty that he demands to stop violence and to dismiss Lukashenka.
According to the strike committee, Yury Korzun handcuffed himself to the mining equipment at his workplace. He is going to stay in the mine until his demands are met.
Before going underground Yury Korzun published an appeal in the Vkontakte social network:
"On September 8, I turned 42.
All my conscious life I have lived under Lukashenka's regime. I have always been apolitical, but now I cannot stay aside. AL never really loved Belarusians! This very year he stopped restraining himself and started a real genocide of the Belarusian people! All power structures under his leadership exceeded their powers by beating, tormenting, raping peaceful protesters and just casual passers-by, while remaining unpunished! Over 80 people have disappeared without a trace. We all know what a criminal who feels impunity does! He repeats his crimes with more and more sophistication and brutality every time. And this can affect every family in our country!
What is all that but an attempt to revive fascism?
Only the workers of enterprises can stop the legal default and start a peaceful dialogue! The authorities will not listen to anyone anymore! This is what Lukashenka personally said.
Today I make my choice! I start the protest at my workplace in the face, the adit level of 305m. Press STOP!!! I refuse to leave the mine until my demands are met.
I ask all Belarusians, all those who work with machines and industrial lines, to make the right choice in the fight against evil and lawlessness.
I believe! There are many of us! And we will definitely live in a bright, free, blooming Country for life!
Y. Korzun".
