Andrei Zeltser - Example Of Courage And Bravery

Andrei Zeltser has taken his place in history of the resistance.

An important factor, thanks to which he was able to fight back against the Lukashesku bandits, is courage, writes a reader of the Basta! telegram channel.

The social status is very important and symbolic in the case of Minsk shooter Andrei Zeltser. An IT worker from EPAM, Andrei was in fact a collective response to the state terror of the oppressed IT community.

He also dispelled a stereotype of an IT worker as a person who is supposed to protest peacefully, and then to relocate with his promising company abroad for further successful career. It turns out that this is not the case. Andrei Zeltser is an example of courage and bravery.

Friends of Andrei, who shot the KGB officer, say he was an open, outgoing man. He brought up his son, worked in a prestigious IT-company, practiced fencing.

This man had a lot to lose. A lot. But he made his choice of human dignity and resistance to oppression. The significance of this step is enormous.

The resonance of the Minsk shooting is echoing in the arrests. In two days alone, at least 50 people were detained in Belarus for making sympathetic comments in social media about Zeltser's act. That really shows that Andrei Zeltser continues to live on in people's hearts.

A funeral will be held on October 6, 2021.

Andrei Zeltser, as well as other Belarusians who died for freedom, has already taken his place in history of the resistance.
