It became known when the sanctions package will be adopted and who will be included in it.
At the end of last week, EU diplomats agreed to expand the criteria for sanctions against the Belarusian regime ahead of the fifth package of sanctions, which is expected around mid-November. The addition of names and businesses to the sanctions list will begin shortly.
This was reported by the Brussels correspondent of Radio Liberty, Rikard Jozwiak, noting that, according to the new agreed criteria, the list will include:
“Individuals or legal entities, organizations or bodies responsible for organizing or assisting the activities of the Lukashenka regime, which contributes to: a) illegal crossing of the external borders of a Member State; b) the smuggling of illegal or dangerous goods into the territory of a Member State."
It was also decided to include the "other three large state-owned banks" on the sanctions list. The current list of sanctions includes Belarusbank, Belinvestbank, and Belagroprombank.
