Belarusian Authorities Themselves "Lose" the Contract of "Belaruskali" with the Norwegian Company Yara?

Before the next round of negotiations, members of the strike committee of the Salihorsk enterprise were detained.

Nothing so symbolically illustrates the brilliant loneliness of the Belarusian authorities as the Ministry of Finance's report on the state debt for January, the Telegram channel Letters to Daughter writes.

I'm not even saying that they attracted only 35 million from abroad. Last January it was twice as much, but anything can happen. Every January is different. I mean the list of external creditors, which consists of exactly two positions.

It is clear that no one expected to see the EBRD, the EU, or the European Investment Bank on this list. They do not understand the national psychology of the Belarusian authorities and have not given money for a long time.

But there are also no loans from the strategic brother along the long arc. I mean, China. Chinese banks give loans to Chinese companies so that they supply Chinese equipment to Belarus or build something useful for China here. In the same Vialiki Kamen for example. Not that it was a lot of money, but several million were coming every month. In December, 35 million came. And in January, it turns out that China was not particularly interested in the Belarusian Vialiki Kamen.

But okay, China. The Belarusian authorities seem to have closer brothers. So, in the line where they usually wrote "loans from the government and banks of the Russian Federation," there were only words about the government. The Belarusian authorities got 25 million from it. This is exactly the money that Russia uses to finance the construction of a nuclear power plant. And the brotherly banks, it turns out, somehow did not behave very brotherly.

You remember that this year the authorities have to pay over three billion on foreign debts. So, in January they raised 35 million, and paid 270 million, as you remember. But besides the three billion state debt, there are another 158 billion rubles of debts of enterprises, which, in truth, differ little from the state debt. I mean, the Ministry of Finance is paying for them anyway. And you know that the ability of the Ministry of Finance to find money is inversely proportional to the ability of the police to find their hidden ill-wishers.

And so, while the Ministry of Finance cannot find money, the Belarusian police are successfully finding new reasons for arrests. A week ago it was a presence at a concert, then reading on the train, and on Saturday, it was already a party at a private courtyard. Now the next turn, apparently, is attracting fans for absence from football matches without good reason.

Probably, all these brilliant special operations of the Belarusian special services have a deep strategic meaning for them. But only a proverb comes to my mind about an "alternatively gifted" who should not perform conventional religious rituals to avoid inflicting light bodily harm on himself.

Some people ask: why did the authorities arrest members of the strike committee of Belaruskali just before the next round of negotiations with Yara? It's because these two facts do not fit together in their heads and generally pass through different departments. It is Belaruskali that needs to sign a contract with Yara, and the Finance Ministry needs to raise money to refinance its external debt. And the police need to fulfill the plan for the detainees.

And who is more important in our country now? Any Belaruskali with the Ministry of Finance or the police? Whose departmental interests are more important? Do not answer. It was a rhetorical question.
