Avakov: Informant Testified About Involvement Of Lukashenka's Special Services Into Killing Of Sharamet
PAVEL SHARAMET

The decision on whether to declassify the informant's testimony will be made by the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.

Ihar Makar, a former officer of the Almaz special police unit of the Interior Ministry of Belarus, has testified in the case of the murder of journalist Pavel Sharamet. According to Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, the informant spoke about the role of the Belarusian special services and described their motive for eliminating Sharamet.

"He has given his testimony. The testimony is not uninteresting," - the Ukrainian Interior Minister told Dmitry Gordon in an interview broadcast on Tuesday evening, March 2.

Avakov explained that the decision on whether to declassify the informant's testimony would be made by Prosecutor General of Ukraine Irina Venediktova.

"We keep asking ourselves the question 'what is the motive'. And here we saw the motive: the Belarusian special services considered him [Sharamet] to be an inconvenient person," - the Ukrainian minister said.
