Minsk Resident Sentenced To Three Years In Colony On 'Zeltzer Case'

Judge Sviatlana Kremianeuskaya passed the verdict.

On October 26th, Brest regional court sentenced Aliaksei Ivanau under part 1, Article 369 (Insult of a representative of the authorities) and part 1, Article 130 (Incitement of other social enmity or discord) of the Criminal Code. The case was considered by Judge Sviatlana Kremianeuskaya, Viasna reports.

Aliaksei Ivanau was detained on October 11, 2021 in a criminal case brought for comments on the Internet after the death of KGB officer Dzmitry Fedosiuk and IT specialist Andrei Zeltzer.

Since August 2022, Aliaksei has been kept in Brest pre-trial detention center No. 7. The man is registered in Hrodna but has lived in Minsk for a long time.

On 26 October, Brest regional court judge Sviatlana Kremianeuskaya found Aliaksei Ivanau guilty under Art 369 ("Insulting a public officer") and Part 1 Art 130 (Incitement of other social enmity or discord) of the Criminal Code and sentenced him to three years' imprisonment in a penal colony under the general regime and a fine of 3,200 rubles.
