AFU Defeate Elite RF 108th Regiment That Planned To 'Storm Mykolaiv'

Soldiers of the "Cossack" regiment from Novorossiysk can no longer perform combat missions.

The 108th Guards Airborne Assault Regiment of the Russian Federation, which had been sent to the southern direction to "storm Mykolaiv", has completely lost its combat effectiveness in Kherson Region

Ukrainian fighters continue to destroy "elite" units of the Russian army. The 108th Guards Airborne Assault Kuban Cossack Regiment of the Order of the Red Star, which was in charge of an interesting section of the front, suddenly lost its full combat effectiveness in the southern direction.

This was reported by a columnist of the Information Resistance group, Oleksandr Kovalenko, citing military sources.

According to his information, the soldiers of the "Cossack" regiment from Novorossiysk can no longer fully carry out combat missions. It should be noted that on October 3 it was reported that the commander of this unit, "combat Buryat" Vitaly Sukuev, who had commanded a special unit in Donbass back in 2016 under cover, had been liquidated.

The 108th Guards Airborne Assault Regiment of the Kuban Cossack Order of the Red Star is a military unit (regiment) of the Airborne Forces of the Russian Federation, part of the 7th Guards Airborne Assault Division (Mountain Division). This unit once participated in combat operations in North Ossetia and in the annexation of Crimea.

At the end of August 2022, battalion and tactical groups of the 108th regiment, according to the information of military observer Konstantin Mashovets, reinforced the section between Partyzanske and Shyroke on the road T-1508 Mykolaiv - Snegirivka. The Russians planned to use this unit together with 20 MRD to break through west of Blagodatne along the Novomykolaivka-Zeleny Gay-Mykolaivske line and the subsequent assault on Mykolaiv.

On August 24, the remnants of the 108th Assault Regiment attempted to break north in two sections and reach the T-1508 Mykolaiv - Snegirivka road near Partyzanske, but the offensive "stalled" near Blagodatne.

According to insider information from the southern front, the 108th Airborne Assault Regiment is not the only unit of the occupation army that feels uncomfortable in the right-bank Kherson region: the 205th Independent Motorized Rifle Brigade from Budyonnovsk, Stavropol Region, which is part of the 49th Combined Arms Army of the Russian Southern Military District, is also having problems.
