Conte Jeans Banned In Belarus

They will be withdrawn from circulation in our country.

The State Committee for Standardization included the products of the Belarusian company Conte — one model of women's jeans of the Conte Elegant trademark — in the list of dangerous products prohibited for import to Belarus. The officials recognized the goods as not meeting the requirements of the technical regulations of the Customs Union, writes Zerkalo.

Bad luck for the CON-93 jeans, which are blue camouflage stretch denim skinny pants. The composition of the fabric is cotton 86%, polyester 11%, and elastane 3%.

It was the fabric that State Standard did not like: they say that the breathability of these trousers is five times lower than the norm.

By the way, in online stores these jeans are described as “eco-friendly”: they allegedly minimize the use of chemicals in their production, reduce water consumption (up to 70%) and electricity, and print on the fabric is applied by a laser that does not have an impact on the environment.

True, this eco-friendly production is not located in Belarus at all (otherwise it would not make sense to restrict the import of goods into the country). As you can see from the “forbidden” card on the State Standard website, the jeans are made by Firemount Textiles Ltd in the Republic of Mauritius, and Conte is only their importer.

The ban on the import of products has been in effect since October 31, and the goods must also be withdrawn from circulation in Belarus.
