Minsk Mother Of Many Children Jailed For 1.5 Years Over Participating In March

Political prisoner Ina Panova is raising four children.

On October 31, 2022, the court of the Leninski district of Minsk sentenced the political prisoner Ina Panova under Article 342 of the Criminal Code (“Organization and preparation of actions grossly violating public order, or active participation in them”), reports the human rights center Viasna.

Ina Panova was detained on July 15, 2022, as part of a criminal case on “group actions grossly violating public order” (Article 342 of the Criminal Code) for participating in protests. Ina was placed in the pre-trial detention center #1. It is known that the woman is raising four children.

On October 31, the court of the Leninski district of Minsk found Ina Panova guilty under Article 342 of the Criminal Code (“Organization and preparation of actions grossly violating public order, or active participation in them”) and sentenced her to 1 year and 6 months of imprisonment in a general regime colony.

Ina was also brought with a civil suit for more than 7,000 rubles. It will be considered at a separate hearing.
