Causes Of Belavia Plane Accident Established

The aircraft returned to Minsk 6 hours and 20 minutes after departure.

An emergency situation occurred on November 9 on a Boeing 737-800 aircraft during a flight from Minsk to Sharjah.

There was a cracking of the cover layer of the windshield on the side of the co-pilot. The aircraft returned to Minsk 6 hours and 20 minutes after departure.

As the Telegram-channel “Otvinta | Aviation of Belarus” has learnt, the cracking occurred due to a short circuit in the terminal of the glass heating elements (all the windows of the pilots in this aircraft [B737-800] are electrically heated). Although the damage is minimal, the glass is already being changed. Therefore, soon the aircraft will be ready to fly.

According to the airline, there were 158 passengers in the cabin. They were provided with a replacement vessel EW-544PA. Its departure took place at 9:08 (1 hour 44 minutes after EW-527PA landing in Minsk)

Due to the incident, flights from the Belarusian capital to Antalya and Sharm El Sheikh were delayed by almost 12 hours.
