After the second series of shots, the rocket fell apart.
Kyiv has experienced the most massive Russian missile attack since the beginning of a full-scale invasion. Of the 40 missiles launched towards the capital, 37 were shot down by air defense forces. One of the cruise missiles was shot down by a territorial defense fighter from a conventional machine gun, TSN reports.
The military says the chance of shooting down a missile with small arms is one in a million. However, the Ukrainian fighter managed to do this from an ordinary Kalashnikov machine gun, which was not improved in any way. In addition, it turned out to be a trophy, it was won in a battle with the invaders.
Fighter Oleh shot down a missile at the positions near Kyiv when he stepped onto the firing line after the start of an air raid. “About a minute later, I turned my head, and saw a missile flying. Without hesitation, I took off the safety catch, shot a couple of bursts to forestall the missile, and then right on target,” says the machine gunner.
He did not miss, and the missile worth several million began to crumble from bullets.
“After the second or third turn in the rackets, a blue or green reflection appeared and it broke into two parts. It turns out that the tail fell immediately, and the front part did a somersault and fell. There was no explosion, there was nothing,” Oleh adds details.
The Ukrainian hero disclosed the following information about himself: he is 25 years old, before the war he worked as a packer in a bookstore, and is yet single.
