The elite unit has come under fire by Ukrainian artillery on the left bank of the Dnieper River.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces' artillery has crushed an elite unit of the Russian army on the left bank of the Dnieper river, which is being withdrawn deep into the occupied territories after suffering heavy losses.
The 127th GRU separate reconnaissance brigade from Sevastopol (military unit number 67606), part of the 22nd army corps of the Russian Navy's Coastal Forces, suffered the heaviest losses.
Military expert and coordinator of the IS group Oleksandr Kovalenko wrote about it on his Facebook page.
"As you know, to minimize losses, the Russian Army is withdrawing part of the units from this zone. But what is interesting is that a number of units of the 127th separate reconnaissance brigade of the Southern Military District are being withdrawn definitively and irrevocably. I think, in the nearest future, there will be a lot of photos with funerals of representatives of this particular brigade combat unit," he said.
Kovalenko stressed that in the 20-km operational zone on the left bank of the Dnieper River, the AFU made a real defeat for the Russian military, which was accompanied by a large number of casualties among the Russians.
Moreover, the Russians did not take part in combat operations, but merely held their positions under heavy fire of the Ukrainian army.
"Except that for the last couple of months, they were not carrying out their specific, highly specialised tasks on the left bank, they were just bluntly suffering. They were suffering from 24/7 attacks from the Ukrainian army's artillery. The result? Part of the specific and highly specialised unit, which takes years to get trained and developed, was ground up," the expert stressed.
