Russian Telegram channels reported an explosion and a large-scale fire at a military airfield in Engels. The explosion occurred on the night of Monday, December 26.
The Baza Telegram channel, which is close to the Russian security forces, reported that the fire area after the explosion was 120 square meters. According to preliminary data, 3 people died, four more were hospitalized.
Despite the statements of Russian officials that there is allegedly no damage on the ground as a result of the attack, Deutsche Welle cites the opposite data.

The German publication refers to the information of the Ukrainian military blogger Roman Bochkala, who writes that Russian air defense systems did not shoot down the drone itself, but one of the missiles it fired.
“As a result of a UAV missile attack at the location of the 6950th air base (military unit 06987, Engels, Saratov region of the Russian Federation), the base control center was hit. The UAV fired 2 missiles, one of which was shot down by the air defense system, and the other hit the target,” the German publication quotes the blogger’s message.
