The French Navy intercepted a cargo ship bound for St. Petersburg in the English Channel.
According to the "European Pravda", the BBC writes about this.
French officials said the ship was intercepted under new EU sanctions and said it was diverted to the northern port of Boulogne-sur-Mer.
"A 127-metre-long Russian bulk carrier called the "Baltiyskiy Lider", carrying cars, was intercepted in the English Channel at night by the French navy and forwarded to the port of Boulogne-sur-Mer in northern France," the official said.
"It was forwarded to a French port at the request of the French government, as it is suspected of belonging to a company that is under EU sanctions against Russia," he added.
The Russian Embassy in France is demanding an explanation from the French authorities regarding the confiscation.
