Ukraine Puts Singer Gazmanov On International Wanted List

The Russian singer was arrested in absentia.

A Ukrainian court has resolved to arrest Russian singer Oleg Gazmanov in absentia. The Prosecutor General's Office has begun the procedure for putting him on the international wanted list.

It has been reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Iryna Venediktova.

Gazmanov was arrested in absentia due to suspicions of encroaching on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine in accordance with Article 110 of the Criminal Code.

The article provides for up to five years with or without confiscation of property.

In her message, Venediktova used the words from Gazmanov's famous song "Officers". The Prosecutor General remade it in her own way, leaving the key points.

"We in Ukraine believe that officers (also referred to as Russians) are committing crimes in Ukraine today. And yes, we are often on land, and they are often at sea, and we can’t meet in any way – only in court," Venediktova summed up.

Earlier, the court resolved to arrest Russian director Nikita Mikhalkov in absentia.
