Luhansk Region Prevents Chlorine Explosion Provocation

"The Luhansk people wanted to blow up chlorine in the Popasna water utility.

In the Luhansk region, 10 tonnes of chlorine have been removed from the Popasna water channel to prevent a possible environmental disaster.

This was stated by the chairman of the Luhansk regional military administration (RMA) Serhiy Haidai in an information telethon, reports UNIAN.

"The director of the water channel received information and we checked it out. "The LPR people publish that the Ukrainians allegedly want to blow up chlorine in the Popasna water channel. This is a very dangerous chemical substance. Even with a gas mask, one can only withstand it for 15 minutes," Haidai says.

"Today, with the help of the head of the Popasna water channel, we quietly, without telling anyone, removed 10 tonnes of chlorine. We transported it to a safe place and prevented a provocation by Russian troops," Haidai said.

When answering the question about availability of protective equipment against chemical attack in the region, Haidai says that civilians do not have it because no one has prepared for the chemical threat in advance.

At the same time, he reassured: "Thank God that the Azot plant is not operating at full capacity, there is no hazardous chemical in large quantities there. And the residue of nitric acid, which was in the tanks, poses no threat to the local residents.

The head of the RMA also explains how the evacuation from the hazardous areas goes. "The evacuation does not stop for a day. We negotiate nominally about those humanitarian corridors, about the cease-fire, but they (agreements - UNIAN) are really nominal, because none of the orcs observe it. Our buses fall under fire," he said.

Regarding shelling in the region, Haidai says there is less shelling in the area of Popasna. "The day before yesterday, our troops hit a depot with ammunition, and even today we have already felt that there has been less shelling in the area of Popasna," he said.

"The weather is helping us, it's been raining. We have farmland around us, so heavy equipment won't go through there. If it lines up in columns, our military will only thank the Orcs for that, because it will be an easy target," Haidai added.
