Titanium Arm And Iron Will: Some Facts About Legendary Defender Of Mariupol

Azov speaker Ilya Samoilenko surprised everyone with his brilliant English during his press conference with the Mariupol defenders. After that, the press service of the National Guard published interesting facts about him.

"Many people watched the interviews of Azov commanders from Mariupol yesterday. But we are sure that not many people know about who Ilya Samoilenko is," explained the National Guard.

It is reported that Ilya Samoilenko has lost his left arm in combat operations. He currently has a titanium mechanical prosthesis and yet he, like other Mariupol defenders, holds the defence at Azovstal.

The arm is not the only combat casualty. Ilya has also lost his right eye. The eye is now artificial.

"Studied at the history department of Kyiv University. Dreams of completing his studies after the war. A man of iron willpower, a real hero!" added the National Guard.

We remind you that on May 8, the Azov fighters who are holding the defence at Azovstal gave a press conference. They spoke about their struggle. They thanked the international community for economic and military assistance to Ukraine.
