Large-Scale Military Exercises Started In Estonia

More than 15 thousand soldiers from 10 countries are taking part in the exercises.

Exercise Siil 2022 of the Estonian Defence Forces has started. More than 15 thousand servicemen from 10 countries will take part in it.

"The purpose of the manoeuvres is to test combat readiness and assess international cooperation in response to various threats," the report said.

The territory of the exercise will stretch from the Danish island of Bornholm to the north of Latvia. They will involve US, British and Polish missile systems, armoured vehicles, attack helicopters, fighter jets and landing craft from the US Expeditionary Force, which will arrive in the country towards the end of the manoeuvres.

The Estonian Defence Forces have warned that large columns of military equipment may move along the roads at times.

The manoeuvres are expected to come to an end on June 3. It will be one of the greatest military exercises in the country's history since 1991.
