Former Law Enforcement Officer To Be Tried In Poland For Collaboration With Belarusian KGB

The man was arrested in October last year.

A former law enforcement officer will be tried in Poland on charges of cooperation with the Belarusian KGB.

Mazowieckie Department for Combating Organized Crime and Corruption of the National Prosecutor's Office has filed the case to the district court in Warsaw, said Stanisław Żaryn, the press secretary of the Minister-coordinator of Polish special services.

M. Grzegorz is accused of cooperation with the Belarusian KGB and attempting to provide data, the disclosure of which could be detrimental to Poland. He was detained last October. It was reported that the man was formerly a member of the country's security forces. In the 1980s he served in the special forces of the Polish ZOMO militia, then in the police force, leaving in 2001 as a border guard officer.

In addition to cooperation with the Belarusian KGB, the defendant is also charged with storage of ammunition without the required permission. The man is in custody.
