The countries refused to pay for gas in rubles
Polish and Czech authorities are discussing the possibility of supplying liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Oman instead of Russia.
According to Seznam Zpravy, representatives of the energy companies Prazska plynarenska and CEZ met on this occasion with the leadership of the Omani company Oman LNG. Negotiations will continue in the coming weeks.
The publication notes that the Czech Republic is counting not only on Oman — it is also preparing an agreement on the supply of LNG with Qatar.
Earlier, on May 23, Poland terminated the Yamal contract with Gazprom ahead of schedule. At the end of April, the Polish oil and gas company PGNiG refused to pay for Russian gas in rubles, and Gazprom, in response, stopped pumping.
