Russia "Rejects" Meat And Milk From Belarus

The increase in violations coincided with the resumption of supplies of goods, produced by a number of Belarusian enterprises, to the Russian Federation.

The Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision (Rosselkhoznadzor) is concerned about the increase in the number of violations in the supply of livestock products from Belarus, according to belmarket.by.

These days, the Rosselkhoznadzor has recorded a large number of violations and inconsistencies with the norms and requirements of the law during laboratory analysis of products imported from the Republic of Belarus to Russia. As a result, the Service is forced to “reject” Belarusian meat and milk, preventing some of the goods from entering the consumer market.

In April of this year, 45 non-compliances with the veterinary and sanitary requirements of the EAEU were identified during the monitoring of livestock products that came to the Russian Federation from Belarus. This indicator is almost three times higher than the number of detected violations of the law in the first quarter of 2022 (16 cases).

The Rosselkhoznadzor reported that safety violations were found in dairy and poultry products, as well as in beef. In addition, there's a finding of the presence of raw materials not declared by the manufacturer on the label. For example, pig DNA was found in frozen veined beef blocks.

Given the increase in the number of violations, the Rosselkhoznadzor appealed to the Department of Veterinary and Food Control of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Belarus with a request to strengthen control over compliance with the established requirements of the Eurasian Economic Union when exporting products to Russia.

It should be noted that the increase in violations coincided with the resumption of supplies of goods, produced by a number of Belarusian enterprises, to the Russian Federation.

So, from March 6, 2022, the Rosselkhoznadzor lifted restrictions on the supply of feed, meat and dairy products for 19 Belarusian enterprises. The list of enterprises that were allowed to carry out deliveries to the Russian Federation again included:

Furthermore, from March 19, 2022, under the guarantees of the Department of Veterinary and Food Supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Belarus, restrictions on the supply of livestock products from three Belarusian enterprises were lifted under the regime of enhanced laboratory control for previously identified inconsistencies.

1st Minsk Poultry Factory JSC, Poultry Plant Gorodok JSC and Minsk Meat Processing Plant JSC received permits to resume supplies to the Russian market.
