As reported in the operational command South, the Ukrainian military hit the enemy accumulation in the South. They launched a missile strike near Novaya Kakhivka. During June 16, Ukrainian aviation struck three times with helicopters and planes against enemy concentrations in the Kherson, Kakhivka and Berislavka districts of the Kherson region.

During June 16, the Ukrainian military destroyed:

- 72 Russian occupants;

- one Msta-S self-propelled howitzer and 2 Msta-B howitzers;

- one Sani mortar system;

- 5 units of armored vehicles;

- 2 ammunition depots and 1 fuel depot.

In the morning of June 17, the Russians fired an Uragan at a suburb of Mykolaiv. There were no casualties or losses among the local population. The enemy also used BM-21 Grad MLRSs. The occupants hit the settlements:

- Zaliznichnoye,

- Romny.

The Institute for the Study of War reports Russian occupants are firing artillery to the west and northwest of Izyum. And this may mean that Ukrainian troops are conducting a counteroffensive in that direction. If the counteroffensive north of Izyum is confirmed, it means the Ukrainian military wants to "break the Russian lines of communication in the area of Izyum and Liman." That is, to take back control of the populated areas.

At the same time, the Russians continue to storm Severodonetsk. They are trying to establish control over the city. Alexei Gromov, deputy head of the Main Operational Staff, said that Ukrainian troops continue to resist. They are stopping the Russian occupants near Metelkino and Sirotino, southeast of Severodonetsk.
