Fire In Black Sea After AFU Strike At ‘Boyko Towers’ Visible From Space

NASA has published satellite images.

A satellite of the American space agency NASA recorded a fire at the site where drilling platforms for gas production in the Black Sea seized by Russian invaders in 2014 are located. The picture can be considered as confirmation of the Ukrainian Army's attack on the “Boyko towers”.

Blogger H.I. Sutton, who specializes in submarines and underwater systems, posted a satellite image of the fire on the drilling rig platforms.

“Ukraine attacked Russia-controlled oil platforms,” he wrote.

In the published photo, you can see the point from the fire. In the frame, it is marked as one burning platform, which is located north of the Crimea 1 platform.

The “Boyko Towers” are located to the east of Snake Island - not far from those locations where the Russian cruiser “Moskva” and the tugboat of the Russian Navy “Vasily Bekh” have already been sunk.

The “Boyko Towers”

During the events of spring 2014, Russia, together with the Crimean peninsula, also seized two Ukrainian drilling platforms in the Black Sea. Throughout all these 8 years, the occupiers used the infrastructure for gas production. In addition, at these facilities, the Russians equipped monitoring of the situation on the water with the help of radio electronic intelligence.

Two drilling towers — “Pyotr Godovanets” and “Ukraine” — are called the “Boyko Towers” in public space. They were acquired during the time of Yanukovych. Then the Minister of Energy was Yuriy Boyko, one of the leaders of the Opposition Platform for Life.

Ukrainian Army’s strike at the “Boyko Towers”

On June 20, Ukrainian troops apparently fired missiles at two drilling rig systems in the Black Sea, known as the “Boyko Towers”. People's Deputy Oleksiy Honcharenko has reported this.

“Our missile men did not smoke near the Snake Island, but smoked near the Boyko Towers. The missile attack on the towers slightly interfered with gas production in the Ukrainian Black Sea by the Russians,” the politician said.

The self-proclaimed “authorities” of Crimea, represented by Sergei Aksyonov, also stated that the Armed Forces of Ukraine had fired missiles at the “Boyko Towers”.

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the General Staff made no statements regarding a possible strike by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on two drilling towers seized by Russia in the Black Sea.
