The ex-head of the Amkodor concern appreciated the new 'law' on investors.

The Council of Ministers adopted a resolution with the 'List of Entities and Persons', which prohibits foreign shareholders of Belarusian enterprises from 'unfriendly' countries from alienating their shares in the authorized capital of Belarusian legal entities.

There are 190 such companies in total, including Euroopt LLC, Belita LLC, Spartak OJSC, Lida beer OJSC, Pharmland LLC, and EPAM Systems LLC. "This measure was taken in order to protect the interests of the Republic of Belarus,” the resolution reads.

How this step will help the economy of the country? Deputy of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Belarus of the 13th convocation and ex-head of the machine-building concern Amkodor Vasil Shlyndikau shared his opinion with the Belarusians and Market Belarusian newspaper.

This is a shot in the foot. I don't see how this decision can help the economy.

It is interesting to know the opinion of the heads of the companies included in the list. I'm sure they don't think that the decree protects the interests of the country and business in this country.

The consequences of this decision include, firstly, the fact that foreign investors will stop investing in the companies indicated in the list. I think that companies that are not directly affected by the government's decree will also lose investments.

Secondly, this decision is another factor damaging the investment climate and the country's image. The effect will last for many years. What is the message of this decree for potential investors and those who are thinking about starting a business in Belarus? Keep in mind, you will also face it. That's it.

As for the privatization of enterprises by the people, I believe that even in twenty years, regardless of the leadership, Belarusians will not invest in domestic enterprises. People are disappointed in privatization, there is no trust in this matter. And where do Belarusians get their money for this?
