Cellar For Lukashenka In Homel Region: Trial In "Conspiracy" Case Starts In Belarus

The trial is held behind closed doors.

On July 29, the Minsk regional court begins consideration of the case of "conspiracy to seize power through unconstitutional means".

The defendants in the case were detained by the FSB officers in Moscow, but it became known only when their relatives found them in the KGB detention facility in Minsk. Later, the Belarusian state TV channels showed operational footage and recordings of Zoom-conferences, making it clear that the suspects had been tailed long before their arrest, reminds currenttime.tv.

The accused are lawyer Yury Ziankovich, literary critic and political analyst Aliaksandr Fiaduta, BPF Party chairman Ryhor Kastusiou, Ziankovich's firm employee Volha Halubovich and heavy vehicle driver Dzianis Krauchuk.

The main persons involved in the case - Ziankovich, Fiaduta and Kastusiou - are charged with conspiracy to seize power in an unconstitutional way (Article 357, part 1) and face up to 12 years in prison.

The trial is being held behind closed doors.

Former psychiatrist from Minsk Dzmitry Shchyhelski, former officer of Almaz special police unit Ihar Makar, as well as Aliaksandr Perapechka, Pavel Kulazhenka and Vital Makarenka are also defendants in the case. They are living abroad.
