Getting Job In Lithuania Now Easier For Belarusians

Since August, the rules for the employment of foreigners have been simplified in the Baltic country.

According to Delfi, asylum seekers and illegally arrived foreigners are allowed to find a job or engage in self-employment after 12 months after their registration in the Lithuanian Migration Information System. They will have to obtain permission from the employment service.

Foreign citizens who have received higher education in Lithuania can now apply for a residence permit within 10 years after graduation, and not two, as was the case before.

Foreigners who have received temporary protection in Lithuania will not need to obtain a work permit from the employment service. Also, it does not need to be received by Ukrainian citizens who left after the attack on Ukraine. This exemption will apply if a foreigner applies for a residence permit on the basis of work.

Work visas need to be obtained, as before, only in the diplomatic missions of Lithuania abroad, a residence permit based on work can be obtained in Lithuania.
