The Miory metal-rolling plant opened in 2020. It employed about 600 people, the plant cooperated with giants like McLaren, writes Pramen.

It was a private enterprise. The purpose of the management was personal profit, and the business model, apparently, was the exploitation of cheap labor. At the same time, the plant was successful and paid salaries.

However, in June 2021, law enforcement officers raided the plant before Lukashenka's planned visit. They detained several top managers, including the director. It is not known why they were in disgrace. So far, people are in pre-trial detention facilities under economic articles, which make it impossible to guess their claims.

Production stopped after the plant was taken over by the state. Problems with the settlement of loans and the payment of wages began.

Officials took steps to "save" the plant by providing raw materials, preferential rates for gas and electricity, and minimized the tax burden. None of it was able to revive production. The enterprise will be declared bankrupt this year.

It is not a coincidence that successful plants seized by the state fall into decay. There are enough examples of this kind. The most famous one is Minsk Motorcycle Plant. In an effort to strengthen its control over the society, the government will continue to seize enterprises and interfere more in the economy. If we do not stop this process, our future will look like a poor Cuba or Venezuela.
