Four Russian Ammunition Depots Blown Up At Novofedorivka Airbase

The British Intelligence Service has published new information about the strike on Crimea.

The explosions in Novofedorivka in temporarily occupied Crimea are the result of the destruction of four open ammunition depots. The Russians lost at least eight planes during the attack.

This information was shared by British intelligence in a fresh report regarding the war in Ukraine, UNIAN reports.

"On August 9, 2022, explosions occurred at the Saki military airfield in western Crimea. The initial cause of the explosions is unclear, but the large fungus-shaped clouds observed on the eyewitnesses' video were almost certainly caused by the detonation of up to four unsealed ammunition depots," the British intelligence agency said.

The report also said the attack destroyed or damaged at least eight Russian aircraft - five Su-24s and three Su-30s. The central area of the airfield suffered severe damage but it is likely to remain operational.

For the Russian Federation, the loss of 8 fighters is not colossal, as it is an insignificant part of the total. However, Saki was used to cover the Black Sea Fleet.

"Naval aviation capabilities are currently significantly weakened. This incident is likely to force the Russian military to reconsider its threat perception. Crimea was probably seen as a credible rear area," British intelligence summed up.

We remind you that on August 9, strikes were carried out against an airfield in Novofedorivka on the territory of Crimea.

The attack resulted in the destruction of nine enemy planes, the AFU command said. The chairman of the Ukrainian parliamentary committee for national security, defence and intelligence, Oleksandr Zavitnevych, added that the airfield was put out of action.

The Washington Post journalists quoted a Ukrainian official as saying that the bombings in Crimea were the work of the Ukrainian special forces.
