Company Belonging To Richest Ukrainian Leaves Belarus

One of the largest suppliers of metal products is leaving our country.

The office life publication reports that Metinvest Distribution company, which is part of Metinvest Holding, and belongs to the Ukrainian oligarch, the richest man in Ukraine Rinat Akhmetov, is leaving Belarus.

According to the director of the holding Yuri Ryzhenkov, the decisions to liquidate Metinvest Distribution (in Belarus) and Metinvest Eurasia (in Russia) were made on February 24. Some of the employees were fired, some quit, and there were operational teams that received instructions to liquidate the subsidiaries.

The Metinvest Distribution company was established at the end of 2013 to supply Belarus with rolled metal products from Ukrainian plants, Azovstal, Ilyich Iron and Steel Works, etc. In 2014, it opened a metal-roll warehouse with a storage capacity of 4,000 tons at the Kaliadzichy station. According to estimates, the company was one of the three largest suppliers of metal products to the Belarusian market.

To date, Metinvest Distribution and Metinvest Eurasia are still listed as operating companies in the registers.
