Hundreds of “thank you” are not hundreds of tanks.
President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the participants of the meeting on the defense of Ukraine in the Ramstein format. He urged partners to speed up the supply of weapons.
It is reported by The Guardian.
In his speech via video communication, Zelensky said that Russia is seeking to destroy nations. He stated that the war would decide “what kind of world we will live in” and that “the Kremlin must lose”.
“You are strong people from powerful countries. I urge you to make decisions that can deprive the Russian evil of any power ... It is in your power to guarantee artillery and aircraft that will suppress terror. You can win,” he said.
Zelensky noted that time and the delay of the war helps Russia.
“Time remains a Russian weapon. We have to speed up,” the President of Ukraine emphasized.
He thanked the meeting participants for their assistance, but added that Ukraine was waiting for tanks.
“But hundreds of “thank you” are not hundreds of tanks. All of us can use thousands of words and discussions, but I cannot put words instead of guns that are needed against the Russian artillery, or instead of the anti-aircraft missiles that are needed to protect people from Russia’s air strikes,” Zelensky said.
Statement by the head of the Pentagon
US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin responded to Volodymyr Zelensky, saying that Ukraine's partners would continue to support him.
“I hope you know that we will continue to uphold the principle that borders cannot be redrawn by force. And we will continue to champion an open world of rules, rights and responsibilities. Thank you again for being here today,” the head of the Pentagon said.
The eighth meeting on the defense of Ukraine is being held at the Ramstein airbase in Germany. Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said that offensive weapons and air defense remain a priority for Ukraine.
