What Should Belarusians Expect In February?

The most important changes that will affect Belarusians.

In February 2023, the subsistence minimum budget will be revised, which will entail a change in some pensions and benefits. The border crossing fee will be returned into force. Onliner has collected important changes of the month for you.

The subsistence minimum budget will change

The subsistence minimum budget is reviewed quarterly: on February 1, May 1, August 1, November 1 — and, as a rule, it gets increased. For the period from November 1, 2022 to January 31, 2023, the subsistence minimum budget was set at 339.83 rubles.

In proportion to the growth of the subsistence minimum budget, pensions for certain categories of pensioners and social pensions, as well as benefits for families raising children, will also change.

Allowances for raising children up to 3 years of age will increase.

Twice a year, on February 1 and August 1, in Belarus, the size of the allowance for raising a child under the age of 3 is recalculated. In the coming days, we will learn about the new allowances, until the end of January 2023 they will be as follows:

BYN 556.05 for the first child;

BYN 635.48 for the second and subsequent children;

BYN 714.92 per child with a disability.

The amount of the benefit depends on the average salary for the quarter.

School holidays for kids

The third quarter in schools began on January 9 and will end on March 25. However, for students of the first and second grades, additional holidays are provided from February 20 to 26.

Summer holidays in 2023 will begin on June 1.

The fee for crossing the border will be returned

After the New Year, the fee for crossing the border by car was not charged in the Hrodna, Brest, Vitsebsk and Homel regions, because at the end of December 2022 the relevant regulations expired. The departure tax, which was one base tax, is returned in the territories of the above regions from February 1. The amount of the fee has not changed and remains tied to the base fee (from January 1, 2023 the base fee is 37 rubles).

Single tax rates will rise

From February 2023, when calculating the single tax, new rates are applied — as the Ministry of Taxes and Duties informs, they increase by 1.5-3 times, depending on the type of activity.

The single tax for January 2023 is calculated according to the old rules established in Annex 24 to the Tax Code in the version that was in force until December 31, 2022.

Train traffic will be canceled/changed due to bridge repair

The Belarusian Railways announces the scheduled repair of the railway bridge on the 92nd stretch Drut - Vendrizh. Because of this, some trains will not run on the Mahiliou-Asipovichy section.
