The Russian version with phones is weak.
The version of the Russians that the destruction of their troops in Makiivka was supposedly due to "their use of mobile phones" is ridiculous. In fact, the occupiers simply could not secretly deploy the mobilized soldiers, and the Armed Forces of Ukraine set the target.
RBC-Ukraine reported with reference to the speaker of the Eastern Group of Forces Serhiy Cherevaty on the air of a TV-show.
“Of course, using phones discloses locations and it is a mistake. But this version looks a bit funny. This is a very weak excuse in case of deployment of such large groups of mobilized soldiers who are not very trained and well-coordinated in large rooms that are not suitable for hiding in case of danger,” Cherevaty said.
He noted that it was a mistake of the Russians and expressed confidence that now the Russian Federation is looking for the guilty.
“It is clear that this [the use of phones - Ed.] was not the main reason. It was that they could not secretly deploy their personnel. We took advantage of this, targeted it after reconnaissance and destroyed it with powerful strikes,” Cherevaty explained.
Earlier, the Charter97.org website reported that on December 31, a Russian base in the temporarily occupied Makiivka, Donetsk region, was hit.
The Russian Defenсe Ministry acknowledged that 89 Russian soldiers were killed in Makiivka. However, the real losses of the Russians can be much greater.
Namely, еhe Strategic Communications Center of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that about 400 Russian military men, including those mobilized, were eliminated in Makiivka. Meanwhile, the world media is calling the incident in Makiivka one of the biggest losses of the Russian Federation since the beginning of the war.
Today, the head of the Main Military-Political Directorate of the Russian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Sergei Sevryukov, said that the main reason for the strike on Makiivka was "the use of mobile phones by personnel within the enemy weapons’ affected area".
