Charge details.
A woman was arrested in Minsk. She was performing the Mahutny Boža (“Almighty God”) composition in 2020, as a member of the choir, in front of the Belarusian State Philharmonic. A “repentant” video with her was published on October 11 on a Telegram channel close to GUBOPiK [Lukashenka’s punitive body - the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and Corruption].
In the video, the woman was forced to admit that she “participated in protests” and “blocked Independence Avenue.”
Propaganda resources claim that a criminal case has been opened against the woman.
Mahutny Boža ("Almighty God") is a famous Belarusian hymn, based on a poem by Natallia Arsiennieva and music by Mikola Ravienski. Belarusian emigrants were singing it in the mid-1990s. It could even become the anthem of Belarus, at least parliament considered this option.
