Media: Russian Patrol Ship Pavel Derzhavin Reported Destroyed In Sevastopol

The patrol ship could have been blown up on a mine.

A large patrol ship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, Pavel Derzhavin, could explode in temporarily occupied Sevastopol.

Online media reports that this happened during a routine raid. In particular, the Crimean Wind Telegram channel writes that the ship Pavel Derzhavin could have exploded on a mine.

Channel subscribers and residents of Sevastopol reported that yesterday at about 10 a.m. on October 11, they heard an explosion.

Later that day they discovered a ship and a boat in the sea near Sevastopol. Judging by the size of the ship - approximately 60 meters - it could only be a minesweeping ship.

Speaker of the Odesa Regional Military Administration Serhiy Bratchuk commented on the information about possible damage to the enemy vessel. According to his preliminary data, the ship was actually damaged by mine.

Note that Russia has only four such vessels: Vasily Bykov, Dmitry Rogachev, Pavel Derzhavin and Sergey Kotov.

“There is preliminary information about the explosion of the Pavel Derzhavin patrol ship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet. The ship was on an external spot-check in the waters of temporarily occupied Sevastopol. Previously, it was blown up by a Russian sea mine,” Bratchuk noted.

The head of the Press Center of the Southern Defence Forces of Ukraine, Natalia Humeniuk, also expressed her assumptions on this matter on the air of the Edyni Novyny (“Unified News”) joint information telethon. But she emphasized that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are clarifying the information.

According to her, given the fact that Russians “do not really follow security measures, everything is possible.”

“Such sloppiness by representatives of the Russian Black Sea Fleet... either they will hold a meeting in the wrong place, or they will enter the sea in the wrong place. Anything can happen. We are clarifying the circumstances and checking this information,” noted Natalia Humeniuk.

Patrol Ship Pavel Derzhavin, characteristics

Most likely, in Sevastopol, for unknown reasons, the patrol ship Pavel Derzhavin of project 22160 of the Vasily Bykov type exploded.

The ship's armament includes:

8 launchers of the Kalibr-NK cruise missiles,

2 launchers of the Redut-M anti-aircraft missiles,

2 A-190 artillery mounts, 100mm caliber,

2 RBU-6000 missile launchers,

2 torpedo tubes, 533mm caliber.

During the full-scale war in Ukraine in June 2022, the ship’s armament was strengthened by the Tor-M2KM anti-aircraft missile system mounted on the stern.
