Former State Duma Member: Europe Reduced Putin To The Status Of Impostor Lukashenka
IGOR YAKOVENKO

What does the PACE resolution mean?

The PACE resolution actually equalized the status of Russian President Vladimir Putin with that of Belarusian dictator Aliaksandr Lukashenka. That is, Putin is recognized as an “impostor and usurper,” which may change the attitude towards him.

As TSN writes, ex-deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Igor Yakovenko expressed this opinion on the FREEDOM TV channel on October 16.

Back on October 13, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe recognized Russia as a dictatorship and called on all Council of Europe states not to recognize Putin’s legitimacy after the expiration of his current presidential term.

Commenting on this resolution, Yakovenko emphasized that it is “simply great.” He expressed hope that European and other countries “will listen to this recommendation.”

What does the PACE resolution on Putin mean?

“In essence, this means that Putin’s international status will be equal to Lukashenka’s, that is, he is a person not recognized by anyone. This is an impostor, this is an usurper. I think that it is the status of an impostor that will change the situation regarding Putin,” said the Russian politician.

He recalled the arrest warrant for Putin issued by the International Criminal Court in the Hague in March, due to which he is now practically prohibited from traveling abroad.

“But here it is important that every representative of any foreign state, meeting with Putin, knows for sure that he is meeting with an impostor. This does not mean that all kinds of contacts will be stopped. In the end, they are negotiating with terrorists to hand over hostages... But it is very important that Putin has received the official status of an impostor and usurper. It seems to me that this will be very useful,” Yakovenko emphasized.

What will make Putin’s circle change their attitude towards him?

At the same time, an ex-deputy of the Russian State Duma expressed the opinion that such a decision is not capable of turning the tide around the head of the Kremlin. The politician believes that the main opposition force against Putin is the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

“If the situation when the front line does not move anywhere continues on the battlefield, then no recognition will have any effect on Putin’s situation. But if something significant happens, if, for example, the Crimea is deoccupied, this is a serious story. And combined with the fact that Putin is recognized as an usurper, I think this will generally make a serious impression, including on the security forces, the armed forces. Plus, life is getting worse all the time in Russia. All this can cause such an effect, you know, “the king is not real, isn’t it time for the army to rebel?” Yakovenko shared his assessments.

He recalled how at one time the Wagner PMC boss Yevgeny Prigozhin demonstrated that an armed uprising within Russia could be successful.
