The IDF Press Service said that the leadership of the terrorist organization Hamas knows that responsibility for the Gaza Al Ahli Hospital blast lies with Islamic Jihad militants. At the same time, Hamas deliberately blamed Israel for this tragedy, achieving massive anti-Israeli protests around the world, according to Kan and newsru.co.il.
The IDF has published an audio recording of an intercepted conversation allegedly between two Hamas militants. One of the voices in the recording said that the Islamic Jihad launched a rocket and it fell in Gaza.
Previously, the IDF presented images of the Al Ahli Hospital in Gaza before and after the explosion that occurred on October 17, 2023.
The footage shows that damage was caused to cars in the hospital parking lot, as well as to the roofs of several buildings. But there are no traces of an aerial bomb explosion. If an aerial bomb had exploded, the damage would have been much more significant with even a crater at the site.
The IDF continues to insist that the explosion was caused by a rocket fired by Islamic Jihad militants against Israel.
Israel does not have reliable data on the number of victims as a result of this explosion. But it is extremely unlikely that such a defeat would result in hundreds of deaths, as the Hamas-controlled Gaza Ministry of Health claims.
Let us recall that on October 17, 2023, at 19:19, the Palestinian media published the first reports about an explosion at the Al Ahli Hospital in the central part of the Gaza Strip. At the time of the explosion, the Al Jazeera TV channel was reporting from the Gaza Strip, and the footage captured the launch of a rocket towards Israel and its fall shortly after the launch.
Almost immediately after this, the Hamas Palestinian Information Center wrote that at least 500 people were killed and about 600 were injured. The sector's health ministry initially reported 200-300 deaths but then confirmed more than 500 deaths.
Hamas claims the hospital was attacked by the IDF. After this, the IDF began an investigation into the circumstances of the blast. However, without waiting for the results of the Israeli investigation, international media blamed Israel for the incident.
Only three hours later, the IDF Press Service Released a statement saying that a rocket fired by Islamic Jihad militants led to the explosion in a hospital in Gaza. “The analysis of IDF operational systems indicates that a barrage of rockets was fired by terrorists in Gaza, passing in close proximity to the Al Ahli hospital in Gaza at the time it was hit. Intelligence from multiple sources we have in our hands indicates that Islamic Jihad is responsible for the failed rocket launch which hit the hospital in Gaza,” the IDF representative said.
