Ukrainian Forces Broke Through Russian Defences On Dnipro Left Bank

Ukrainian marines conducted a successful operation in the village of Poima.

Russian military propagandists are crying foul. They confirm the information that the Ukrainian military went on the offensive on the left bank of the Dnipro River in the Kherson region and occupied the village of Poima, dialog.ua reports.

The military of two assault brigades of the Ukrainian Marine Corps dashed on Tuesday afternoon and occupied the village of Poima on the left bank of the Dnipro River, according to the Rybar close to the Russian MoD Telegram channel. After additional troops arrived, the Corps continued their advance and, “according to some sources,” occupied several houses on the northern outskirts of the nearby village of Peschanivka, the channel writes.

The information that Ukrainian troops managed to occupy the Poima and houses in Peschanivka was also confirmed by the Two Majors influential Telegram channel. The channel suggests that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are preparing the marines to enter lines in other places along the Dnipro River on the line Pidstepne - Kozachi Laheri - Krynki.

“The question is: How did the allow such a breakthrough in two settlements? We wrote for several months that there is a bridgehead of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the island zone and in some areas of the left bank of the Dnipro River, but no measures were taken,” Rybar added.

Pischanivka and Poima are located approximately 15 km from Kherson and approximately 8 km from Oleshky. A road passes through Oleshky towards to the destroyed Antonivka Bridge, where the group of the Armed Forces Ukraine landed in June. According to war observers on Telegram, the Ukrainian forces are still holding a small area in the Antonivka Bridge area.

An offensive on the left bank in the Kherson region could divert Russian forces from other sectors of the front. The main efforts of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are now aimed at advancing the areas of the villages of Robotyne and Verkhove (Zaporizhzhia region) and Urozhaine (Donetsk region). In addition, Ukraine is advancing near Bakhmut. Russia, in turn, began to advance in the Kupiansk region of the Kharkiv region at the end of summer, and in October - near Avdiivka in the Donetsk region.
