AFU Shoot Down Russian Su-25 Near Avdiivka

The Ukrainian military shot down a Russian Su-25 attack jet near Avdiivka. This is the fifth destroyed plane of the Russian troops for the last ten days.

This was reported by the speaker of the Joint Press Centre of the defence forces of the Tavria direction Oleksandr Shtupun on the air of the national telethon.

"With the support of aviation, the enemy continues to try to encircle Avdiivka, our soldiers over the past day repelled three enemy attacks and shot down another enemy Su-25 attack aircraft. This is the fifth aircraft shot down in Donetsk region over the past ten days," he explained.

Shtupun added that the enemy aircraft was shot down by soldiers of one of the brigades of the AFU Ground Forces.

He added that the occupiers are quite actively using front-line attack aviation to support their offensive actions. We are talking about subsonic planes, which are forced to fly close to Ukrainian positions.

"Also, the enemy is using Su-35 and Su-34 all along the Tavria direction, they do not enter the range of our air defence, they shoot from afar, they are afraid," Shtupun summarised.

In recent days, the Russian Federation has suffered significant losses in combat aviation. According to the AFU General Staff, the Ukrainian Defence Forces have destroyed 320 planes and 324 helicopters since the start of the full-scale invasion.
