The number of employed in the economy continues to decline.
485.5 thousand people were dismissed in Belarus for eight months of the year, which is 61.47 thousand more than employed. Such data were published by the National Statistics Committee. The report does not include small and micro enterprises with no departmental subordination.
It should be noted that in August, Belstat reported about the growth of the number of employed in the economy for the first time since January. Apparently, their growth was caused by small enterprises and other forms of employment, not included in the report on dismissals and employment, because, according to its data, Belarusian enterprises dismissed 93.9 thousand people in August, while hired only 79.56 thousand, or 14.35 thousand less.
The balance in favour of dismissals is still formed in the "information and communication" type of activity. In August, 1,147 people were hired, or 429 less than dismissed. In total for eight months this type of activity lost more than 5.5 thousand workers: 7.4 thousand people were hired, and 13 thousand were dismissed. It should be noted that this year there is a tendency to an increase in the number of employment in the "information and communication" type of activity.
In the manufacturing industry, the balance also continues to be in favour of dismissals. In August, almost 14.6 thousand people were dismissed, 275 more than were hired, and for eight months the number of dismissals reached 81.3 thousand people, 3.5 thousand more than the number of employment.
At the end of eight months, the number of dismissals exceeded the number of employment in construction (-3338), trade and repair of cars and motorbikes (-9627), agriculture, forestry and pine farming (-1836), transport and logistics (-4397), financial and insurance activities (-1235), education (-18959), public administration (-699), health care (=2750).
More people were employed than dismissed in scientific research and development (+503), individual sub-sectors of industry, for example, in machine-building (+1393).
