Prosecutor Requests One Year Of Imprisonment For Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk
PALINA SHARENDA-PANASIUK

The activist’s prison term should have ended back on August 6 this year.

The trial against activist of the European Belarus civil campaign Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk has resumed in the Rechytsa district court.

The state prosecutor has requested a year of imprisonment for the political prisoner for “failure to obey the prison administration”.

The sentence for the political prisoner will be pronounced today.

In 2021, Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk was sentenced to two years in prison, accused of using violence against police officers and insulting them, as well as insulting Aliaksandr Lukashenka personally. In April 2022, she received another year in prison under Article 411 of the Criminal Code (“Malicious disobedience to the requirements of the administration of a correctional institution”). This term was supposed to end on August 6, but another case was opened against the woman for “disobedience.”
