Latvia To Deal With Belarusian Products

Now more than 60 Latvian companies import goods from our country and the Russian Federation.

Latvian Agriculture Minister Armands Krause urged the largest importers of Belarusian and Russian food products to abandon this practice. This is reported by Delfi with reference to Latvian TV. Allegedly, now more than 60 companies of Latvia import these goods.

The Delfi report says that Armands Krause is in favour of refusing to import products from Belarus and Russia at the level of the entire European Union. For now, he urges Latvian companies involved in imports to do so.

"I'm absolutely committed to contact the largest importers and find out what the situation is, but I would say this - it's really a question of ethics of each entrepreneur, whether they make money at the expense of war, suffering of others, or choose not to do it," said the Minister of Agriculture of Latvia.

As reported by Delfi, referring to the Latvian TV, according to the Department of Border Control of the Food and Veterinary Service of Latvia, from August to October 2023, food products from Belarus and Russia were imported by 68 companies of this Baltic country.

Most of them are wholesale trade enterprises, as well as cargo carriers, cosmetics and medicine traders, and alcohol producers.

In the last three months, almost 90,000 tonnes of vegetables and over 70,000 grain products were imported to Latvia from Belarus and Russia.
