Belavia Confirms Accident Of Istanbul-Minsk Flight

The damage was noticed at the Turkish airport, but it was decided to continue the flight.

Belavia commented on the incident with the flight Istanbul-Minsk. At night, the information appeared in the network that the plane of the Belarusian airline had a burst tyre, as a result of which it blocked the runway during landing at Minsk airport.

According to Belavia, on November 1, after the departure of flight B2-784 from Istanbul Ataturk International Airport, ground services of the air harbour, having inspected the runway, reported about possible damage to the aircraft wheel.

The crew of Belavia Boeing 737 MAX 8 analysed the situation and decided to proceed to the destination. The flight was performed in normal mode.

"Thanks to the professional actions of the crew, the landing went safely, none of the passengers and crew members on board were injured," said the airline.

After landing, the aircraft was left on the runway, its engines were shut down to prevent possible overheating of the landing gear. The aircraft was subsequently towed to a parking place.

"In accordance with the current rules, an investigation into the cause of the destruction of the left main landing gear wheel is being conducted after the landing of the aircraft," informed the press service of Belavia.
