Residents evacuated.
A pipe with boiling water burst on the upper floors of the famous high-rise building styled with the City-Builder mural on the night of October 31. The building is located in the Belarusian capital city of Minsk in the Ushod-1 at 143 Nezalezhnasti Ave. The whole building was flooded. The electrical wiring was flooded and the building was cut off power. Residents were forced to evacuate, according to zerkalo.io.
“There has been no light for two days, there is water in the corridors. Utility companies did not make any announcements so far. It is unknown when this will all end,” eyewitnesses said.
A pipe burst on the sixth floor of a 16-storе building, and apartments from the sixth to the first floor were damaged. The residents were forced to evacuate.
The Housing Maintenance Service #52 informed the residents that the pipe burst on November 1 at 4 a.m. and the electricity was turned off by the services of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. Their advice is not to come home for two or three days, and then electricians will come to check that the wiring is dry and turn on the power. They promise to solve the problem within a week.
The residents say they don't understand how exactly the problems will be fixed. Water has penetrated everywhere, accumulates under the floor-cloth in the corridors, and mould will form within a few days. Electric stoves are used there, and good life is impossible in such conditions. Local authorities do not say what residents who have nowhere to go should do.
