The Russian capital is gridlocked.
The heaviest snow fell in Moscow on the night of 27 November. The city, including its central districts, is covered in snow, causing problems for both residents and vehicles.
Forecasters say the snow will continue for several more days, and the snow cover could reach 40-50 cm. This is well above the monthly average for this time of year.
The city is in a huge traffic jam, with people moving between cars due to uncleared pavements.
The Hydrometeorological Centre reported that a Black Sea cyclone had arrived in the capital to replace the one from the western Arctic sector. On November 27, Moscow and the Moscow region are expected to experience heavy snowfall, snowstorms, sleet, wind gusts up to 15 metres per second, ice in places. Temperatures will range from -2 to -7 degrees Celsius at night, rising to +2 to +3 degrees Celsius during the day.
