Ban To Participate In European Basketball Tournaments For Belarusian Teams Prolonged

The ban was introduced after the start of the war in Ukraine.

The Executive Committee of the International Basketball Federation has extended the suspension of teams from Belarus and Russia from competitions organized by the federation (FIBA).

“The status quo regarding the participation of Russia and Belarus in FIBA competitions” has been extended until the next meeting of the Central Board, the press service of the International Basketball Federation said in a statement.

The decision to exclude Belarusian and Russian teams from tournaments was made in May 2022, after the start of the war in Ukraine. In addition, at the same time the FIBA Executive Committee decided that official basketball competitions should not yet be held either in Russia or in Belarus.
