‘Workers At Our Plant Are Whispering To Each Other’

What is actually happening at Belarusian enterprises.

“The quality of Lukashist television has dropped to the level where people are forced to turn on and watch TV,” reader Daryja from Loyeu writes to the editors of the Charter97.org website.

An order came to the Loyeu Construction Materials Plant: to “cultivate”, “enlighten”, “give food for thought” to all employees of the enterprise.

Since the job situation in our Loyeu is very tense, people rushed to carry out this order from the leadership. And to show how devoted they are, they say, let us work until we retire, whole families watched a program in which punitive officers taught how to raise children. It’s surprising that some people even sent children to watch this filth.

Only doubt creeps into my heart, did they really watch it? Or they just used the same method as the Lukashenka state: they took a photo, sent a report, and moved on with their lives in peace. The main thing is to go to work so as not to swell from hunger.

After all, when you listen to what people whisper about at our plant, it’s somehow hard to believe that anyone takes this nonsense seriously. They used to say that I want to live in the Belarus that is shown on TV.

Now they don’t even want to live in that rosy country, since they are now showing on TV that our Belarus is allegedly overrun by “extremist terrorists”, there is endless preparation for war, and so on.

My Loyeu acquaintances willingly watch TV shows that help them forget about the horrors of today's life, and they watch propaganda only under duress.
