A memorial plaque was installed in its honour.
An unusual and deeply moving memorial ceremony was held on November 7 at the National Police College of Israel in memory of the police dog Bonita, who was shot and killed by terrorists who penetrated Kibbutz Sufa on October 7. During the ceremony, a memorial plaque was installed in its honour, Detaly reported.
Bonita was a retired police dog who lived with the Cohen family in the kibbutz. The father of the Aviad family serves as a sapper in the police. During his service, he met Bonita and decided to “adopt” it when it was retired.
On Saturday, October 7, when terrorists approached the Cohen family's house, the dog ran towards them. The militants shot her. After that, they moved on and did not enter the house from which the dog ran out. This saved the lives of the Cohen family.
