Powerful Attack On Airbase Near Rostov: Ukrainian Forces Destroyed Entire Squadron Of Russian Su-34 Jets

The number of disabled aircraft revealed.

12 Su-34 aircraft of the occupying forces could have been damaged at the Morozovsk military airfield (Morozovsk city, Rostov region of Russia). Two of them have been destroyed and 10 have various damages.

The Dosye Shpiona (“Spy Dossier”) Telegram channel reported. Recall that the drone attack on the Russian airfield took place on the night of December 17.

This facility serves as the base for the 559th Guards Bomber Aviation Regiment of the Russian Aerospace Forces (military unit #75392, Morozovsk).

At the time of the attack, 24 Su-34 fighter jets were located there. Sources say that eight of them were redeployed from temporarily occupied Berdiansk and Luhansk to this safer zone. Earlier, airfields in the areas of these cities were also attacked.

The Morozovsk base was allegedly attacked by 17 UAVs (unknown type). Russian troops shot down seven of them using the Pantsir-S1 air defence missile system, but 10 UAVs hit the target.

“It is worth noting that air defences started firing when the drones were already close to the airfield. In other words, if they were launched from the territory of Ukraine, they managed to fly unnoticed until approaching an important military facility,” the authors of the Telegram channel noted.

The details of the attack on the Russian Morozovsk airfield were also confirmed by Serhiy Bratchuk, the speaker of the South Ukrainian Volunteer Army.

He said that two Russian Su-34 fighter jets were fully destroyed. Ten more of these aircraft were damaged.

It is noted that 17 Ukrainian drones attacked this airfield.

“The strike was carried out using 17 attack UAVs. It is reported that 7 UAVs were shot down with the Pantsir-S1 air defence missile system. 10 UAVs hit targets. Two Su-34s were destroyed. Another 10 had different damages,” Bratchuk said.
