Lukashenka Expresses Displeasure With Company Linked To Bakiyev

The dictator said that “things are not going as planned” at the enterprise.

The Belarusian National Biotechnology Corporation (BNBC) has problems with capacity utilization and product sales. Lukashenka himself stated this at a special meeting on the work of this company.

“It’s already been a year since the grand opening of the unique large-scale BNBC production took place. We are proud of this production. All conditions were created for the start of his work. And we agreed that we would support the project in every possible way.

However, from the documents presented, I see that things are not quite as we planned. The State Control Committee reports: there are significant shortcomings and problems in loading the plant’s capacity and marketing finished products,” Lukashenka said at a meeting on December 19.

According to him, the current situation negatively affects the financial performance of BNBC. “I would like to hear from the government a clear algorithm for eliminating all existing shortcomings and ensuring financial stability in the operation of the enterprise,” the dictator said.

It should be noted that the main owners of the corporation are foreign companies. Among them, two are Chinese (CITIC International Investments Ltd. and COFCO Corporation), two are from the United Arab Emirates (Al Salaam Biotech Investments Ltd. and Al Ziad Agro Investments Ltd.) and two are registered in Scotland (Maxforce LP and Altastar LP). “Scottish” companies are controlled by Asylbek Saliev, the nephew of the former President of Kyrgyzstan, Kurmanbek Bakiev, who fled to Belarus.
