AFU Start To Destroy Russian Troops Near Bakhmut With New Weapons

The Ukrainian defenders destroy the Russians in the Bakhmut direction, using RPV-16 reactive infantry flamethrowers against them. This is reported by the "Military Courier".

It is noted that the grenade launcher is one of the new developments of Ukraine.

It was first publicly demonstrated in 2017. It was developed by one of the research institutes in Ukraine.

"The flamethrower has high efficiency due to a special thermobaric warhead, also known as a volumetric explosion munition. The warhead additionally has a fragmentation effect. During the detonation of the RPV-16 warhead, it sprays an aerosol cloud with a diameter of 7-8 metres, which detonates after 0.2 seconds and forms a fiery kill zone with a volume of 120 square metres, with a temperature of 2,500 °C and overpressure," writes Military Courier.

A shot from the RPV-16 is equivalent in its power to an artillery shell of 122-mm calibre. The grenade launcher is effective against lightly armoured vehicles and enemy manpower, shelters, fire points.

The range of aiming fire when using the standard diopter sight is up to 600 metres. The weight of the flamethrower, together with the warhead, is 11kg.
